Vietnam's Vinpearl breaks ground on ultra-luxury links golf course on Hon Tre Island

Named Bai Tre golf course, the project covers more than 100 hectares in one of the most secluded and scenic areas of Hon Tre Island, stretching from Tre to Dam Bay Beaches.

The site features dramatic coastal cliffs, sweeping ocean views and largely untouched natural terrain.

Vietnam’s first links course built on coastal cliffs

The course is being developed on a distinctive ‘top cliff’ landscape, marked by steep sea-facing cliffs and constantly changing elevations, creating a natural setting for a links course that is both visually striking and technically demanding.

Bai Tre is the first golf course in Vietnam built on coastal cliff terrain, with fairways running along high ridgelines overlooking the sea.

The course is designed by world-renowned golf course architect Kyle Phillips, whose portfolio includes several courses recognized by the current World Top 100 Golf Courses rankings.

The Bai Tre links golf course features 19 holes, with the back nine laid out along dramatic coastal cliffs where fairways trace elevated ridgelines above the sea.

Golfers will contend with strong sea winds, elevation changes, and open coastal conditions that play a decisive role in shot selection and strategy.

Notably, the 19th hole is designed to extend the post-round experience.

Conceived as a relaxed social space, it allows golfers to unwind and connect while enjoying uninterrupted views of Nha Trang Bay.

Positioned as a six-star public golf destination, the course targets domestic and international golfers seeking premium experiences, elite golf communities, and residents of Vinhomes developments in Nha Trang.

A luxury clubhouse with an understated design will complement the course, emphasizing privacy and personalized services.

Shaped by nature, designed to global standards

At Bai Tre, Phillips has leveraged natural cliffs, native vegetation, and prevailing sea winds to recreate the spirit of the world’s most iconic links courses, in line with his design philosophy of respecting natural landscapes and minimizing intervention.

The routing follows natural variations in elevation and wind direction, requiring golfers to continually adapt their tactics to environmental conditions, turning each round into a strategic challenge shaped by nature.

The course is expected to set new benchmarks for the luxury golf segment in Vietnam and is widely anticipated to gain recognition among the world’s leading golf courses.

Ngo Thi Huong, CEO of Vinpearl JSC, said the project represents more than the addition of a luxury golf facility.

“With Bai Tre golf course, Vinpearl is not simply developing a high-end golf product, but gradually establishing new standards for golf experiences in Vietnam,” Huong said.

She added that iconic projects such as Bai Tre are intended to help position Vietnam as an attractive destination on the global golf map while reinforcing the Vinpearl Golf brand as a leading regional and international player.

The launch of Bai Tre golf course is expected to add a six-star golf product with strong potential to enter prestigious global rankings, further enhancing Vietnam’s profile on the international golf circuit.

It also marks a strategic milestone in the development of Vinpearl Nha Trang, an integrated coastal tourism, resort, and entertainment complex targeting affluent domestic and international travelers.
