VinSpace announced the launch agreement on Tuesday, saying its satellites will be launched aboard a Transporter rideshare mission operated by SpaceX.
Under the partnership, SpaceX will provide launch services, while VinSpace will be responsible for the research, development, manufacturing and on-orbit operation of its satellites.
The agreement lays the foundation for VinSpace's first satellite missions.
The mission will give VinSpace an opportunity to test satellite modules developed by its Vietnamese engineering team under actual orbital conditions.
In April 2026, VinSpace announced its plan to develop and launch its first satellites into orbit in 2027.
The company secured the SpaceX contract four months later, highlighting its efforts to accelerate the development of its space technology capabilities.
The in-orbit testing of domestically developed satellite modules is important for turning our research and engineering capabilities into real-world missions, according to Vu Trong Thu, CEO of VinSpace.
“This contract with SpaceX is an important milestone in VinSpace's long-term strategy to help build Vietnam's space ecosystem and strengthen the country's position within the global space economy,” Thu said.
VinSpace's choice of SpaceX, one of the world's leading launch service providers, reflects its strategy of working with major global technology partners.
However, the company's long-term ambition extends beyond launching satellites into orbit.
VinSpace aims to build comprehensive aerospace capabilities and become Vietnam's first full-stack private aerospace company.
Under this model, the company plans to cover the entire high-tech value chain, including developing domestic satellite modules and systems; assembling, integrating and testing spacecraft to space standards; controlling launch missions and operating satellites in orbit; and developing remote-sensing applications and ground-based space data infrastructure.
Low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellations are increasingly becoming strategic infrastructure, helping secure critical infrastructure and telecommunications connectivity while contributing to economic growth and national technological capabilities.
