Vietnam’s Xuan Son, Dinh Bac share ASEAN Cup 2026 golden boot

Vietnam drew 2-2 with Thailand in the second leg of the final on Wednesday, completing a 4-2 aggregate victory to successfully defend their championship.

Dinh Bac and Xuan Son each scored five goals in eight matches.

The achievement capped an impressive campaign for both forwards, who played important roles in Vietnam's successful title defense.

Dinh Bac maintained consistent form throughout the tournament and was also named the 2026 ASEAN Cup's player of the tournament.

The 2004-born forward, who plays for Cong An Ha Noi FC, has emerged as one of Vietnam's standout performers.

Xuan Son, meanwhile, once again demonstrated his qualities as an experienced striker.

His strength, physicality and varied finishing made him a key attacking outlet for Vietnam throughout the competition.

The 1997-born forward has now won the golden boot for the second time. He previously finished as the tournament's top scorer at the 2024 ASEAN Cup with seven goals.

Behind the Vietnamese duo, Mitchell Baker of Indonesia, Win Naing Tun of Myanmar, Ilhan Fandi of Singapore, and Teerasak Poeiphimai of Thailand each finished with four goals.

For Dinh Bac and Xuan Son, sharing the golden boot will be another memorable milestone in their careers.
