VinFast opens new EV factory in north-central Vietnam

Spanning 36 hectares of land in the Vung Ang Economic Zone in Ky Anh Town, the VinFast Ha Tinh factory is among the most advanced EV production facilities in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

It becomes VinFast’s second operational EV plant in the country, following its flagship facility in Hai Phong, a major port city in northern Vietnam, and the fifth in the EV maker’s global manufacturing network.

Construction of the plant began in December 2024, and in a record-breaking timeline of just seven months, the facility was completed, equipped, and brought into operation, making it among the fastest-built automotive factories worldwide to date.

The factory comprises key zones, including a body welding workshop, a paint shop, an assembly area, a logistics warehouse, and a quality control center.

In addition, a 24-hectare complex of supporting facilities is under construction, with further expansion planned in the coming years.

The plant was designed to turn out some 200,000 vehicles annually, equivalent to an average output of 35 cars per hour, in the initial phase.

Its capacity will be expanded to meet growing domestic and international demand.

The VinFast Ha Tinh EV production facility will focus on producing compact urban EVs such as the VF3, Minio Green, EC Van, and other upcoming models.

The plant aims to serve not only the Vietnamese market, but also the international market.

Speaking at the inauguration event, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, Vo Trong Hai, chairman of the Ha Tinh People’s Committee, emphasized the speed and scale of the factory.

Nguyen Viet Quang, vice-chairman and CEO of Vingroup, VinFast's parent company, described the plant’s inauguration as a pivotal moment in VinFast’s long-term strategy to expand global production and move toward the goal of producing one million vehicles annually.

In the first five months of 2025, VinFast emerged as the leading car brand in Vietnam, selling over 56,000 vehicles.

Among its best-sellers were the VF3, VF5, and VF6 models.
