On Monday, just days before the opening night of the festival, hotels, restaurants, and local households were rushing to sell their remaining viewing spots to visitors eager to enjoy the fireworks displays.
Before each fireworks season, one of the most sought-after side businesses is the sale of viewing seats outside the event’s main grandstand.
High-rise hotels, restaurants, and private homes along both banks of the Han River have turned the annual festival into a lucrative opportunity.
On Monday morning, numerous signs advertising fireworks viewing spots could be seen along the eastern bank of the Han River behind the main DIFF grandstand.
Prices commonly ranged from VND400,000 ($15) to more than VND1 million ($38), with most spots nearly sold out.
At one hotel, when asked about seats for the opening night on May 30, a receptionist guided reporters to the 11th floor and rooftop area of the property.
Pointing to a section reserved for fireworks viewers, the staff member said the best rooftop spots were priced from VND900,000 ($34) to VND1.5 million ($57), depending on whether the seats were located at the edge or farther inside.

“Currently, the hotel only has six spots remaining, as most of the prime seats have already been reserved," a receptionist said.
"We offer two ticket options, including a package with meals priced at over VND1 million, and a viewing-only package with fruit and bottled water for VND900,000.”
At another hotel, nearly the entire rooftop were rearranged to maximize seating capacity for fireworks spectators.
Tables and chairs were repositioned, additional steps were installed along walkways, and glass barriers were reinforced to ensure guests’ safety.
Staff at the hotel said viewing seats for the opening night were being sold from VND900,000 per spot, while prices for the final night would be significantly higher.
As DIFF 2026 will take place from May 30 to July 11, the opening night will feature a competition between Da Nang International Fireworks Team (Vietnam 1) and reigning champion Jiangxi Yangfeng Art Display Co., Ltd. of China.

DIFF 2026 marks a major upgrade in stage scale and performance technology under the theme ‘Da Nang - United Horizons.’
The stage is designed around the concept of a ‘crossroads of unity,’ where horizons, cultures, and emotions converge within a shared artistic space.
Stretching 100 meters wide with an area of nearly 1,200 square meters and a capacity of around 10,000 spectators, the venue is considered the largest in DIFF history.
A centerpiece of the design is a movable central arch spanning more than 40 meters wide and over 10 meters high, capable of transforming in less than 70 seconds.
The performance space will also incorporate a range of advanced technologies, including high-powered lasers, 3D LED matrix systems, Retro Amber lighting, and multi-layer mechanical staging that allows continuous transformations throughout each performance.

Organizers will continue to deploy Sky AR technology, allowing spectators to interact with the fireworks-filled sky through personal devices.
Laser LED projection systems along the Han River and surrounding buildings are also expected to create an immersive festival atmosphere.
DIFF 2026 is jointly organized by the Da Nang People’s Committee and Sun Group, a Vietnamese conglomerate, alongside several sponsoring partners.
The opening night on May 30, themed ‘Nature,’ will feature the host team Da Nang competing against China.
The second night on June 6, under the theme ‘Heritage,’ will see France face Z121 Vina Pyrotech of Vietnam.
The third on June 13, themed 'Culture,' will feature debutant Japan against experienced competitor Italy.
Night 4 on June 20, themed 'Innovation,' will pit Germany against Macau, China.
Night 5, themed 'Vision,' will feature Australia and Portugal.
The final night is scheduled for July 11 under the festival’s main theme 'Da Nang - United Horizons.'
