Lan Ha Bay in Hai Phong City, adjacent to the UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province, has faced increasing pollution from plastic and domestic waste, according to local cruise operators.

Staff and volunteers from Aclass Cruises, a local tour company, regularly board boats to collect floating garbage in the bay.

The company said the campaign aims to restore the bay’s natural beauty and raise awareness among visitors.

“Many tourists are surprised and express admiration," said Nguyen Van Cong, a cruise employee taking part in the clean-up.

“Some even join in to help spread the message of environmental protection.”

Pham Xuan Sang, who runs a cruise business in the bay, said the clean-up began as small, individual efforts by boats and companies but has since become a shared initiative among local operators.

Local volunteers say they hope their actions will inspire more sustainable tourism and contribute to a cleaner marine environment.
