Most of Vietnam will likely experience favorable weather for travel and outdoor activities, with no extreme conditions expected during the upcoming five-day holiday from April 30 to April 4 in celebration of the country’s 50th Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1), said the national weather center.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, northern Vietnam could experience mostly dry weather with rising temperatures. Localized heatwaves may occur around May 3-4.

In the central region, hot weather will likely continue, though less intense than in late April.

The south is forecast to remain hot and sunny, with temperatures ranging from 34-37 degrees Celsius.

Before the holiday, widespread heat is expected to develop in central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Phu Yen, with highs of 35-37 degrees Celsius, and some areas topping 38 degrees Celsius.

Residents in the northern mountainous and midland areas may start to feel the heat from this weekend, followed by broader heatwaves across the north, including Hanoi, from early next week.

Southern provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Phuoc, Long An, and Tay Ninh are likely to experience highs of over 35 degrees Celsius, with temperatures rising further from next Monday.

Between April 23 and 28, northern Vietnam may see thunderstorms and cooler weather, while central Vietnam will also see milder temperatures with the hot weather receding and only appearing locally.

The south, however, is likely to continue facing hot conditions.

Over the next five days, the country is unlikely to see widespread rain, raising concerns about wildfire risks.

With dry conditions and strong southwestern winds expected in central provinces, authorities have issued Level IV (dangerous) and Level V (extremely dangerous) fire warnings for many regions, according to Doan Hoai Nam, deputy head of the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
