Woman fined $720 for driving wrong way in Vietnam’s Khanh Hoa

A 40-year-old woman in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam has been fined VND19 million (US$720) after driving her car against traffic on a road marked with a ‘Wrong Way’ sign, police said on Tuesday.

The driver, identified as T.T.V. from Nam Nha Trang Ward, also had four points deducted from her 12-point license.

The violation took place at around 3:00 pm on September 7, when V. drove her car the wrong way along Nguyen Tat Thanh Boulevard in Cam Lam Commune, north of Cam Ranh Peninsula.

Her reckless maneuver was captured on the dashboard camera of another vehicle traveling in the correct direction.

At the time, the boulevard was crowded with cars and motorbikes, sparking outrage among road users over the risk of a serious accident.
