Officials from the Song Doc Commune administration said that they will commend local resident Le Vinh Phuoc for his honesty and civic responsibility after he returned valuable property he found along the road.
According to the commune administration, Phuoc was commuting from Hamlet 7 to Hamlet 11 in Song Doc when he discovered a discarded plastic bag.
Inside were more than 1.2 taels of gold, including both 18-karat and 24-karat items, along with VND54 million in cash.
Phuoc immediately went to the Song Doc Commune police station to report the incident.
He handed over the entire bag and requested that officers help verify ownership and return the assets to whoever had lost them.
Police later verified that the gold and cash belonged to Pham Tu Nhu, a resident of Hamlet 7 in the same commune.
After completing necessary administrative procedures, local authorities invited both parties to the commune police headquarters, where Phuoc formally returned all of the gold and cash to Nhu in the presence of officers.
Nhu expressed visible relief and gratitude upon receiving her lost belongings.
She thanked Phuoc for his integrity and the local police for their prompt and transparent assistance in resolving the matter.
