According to Dam Hai Van, head of the Nha Trang Bay management board, the whale was seen near Hon Rom, adjacent to Hon Mun Island, in a strictly protected zone.

“This is a very positive sign,” Van told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Tuesday evening.

The sighting follows the appearance of several dolphins in the bay back in May, forming a series of rare and optimistic events for the region’s marine life.

“These sightings show that the marine ecosystem is gradually recovering after years of pressure from tourism and fishing activities,” Van said.

The management board advises tourists and fishermen to observe whales only from a safe distance and avoid approaching or disturbing the animals.

They also call on the broader community to continue efforts to protect the marine environment and ensure Nha Trang Bay remains a safe haven for marine species.
