The makeshift landfill, located opposite the Go Vap Culture, Services, and Sports Center, emits a strong stench and often overflows onto the roadway, disrupting both traffic and pedestrian movement.

As observed by a Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporter between Tuesday and Friday, many residents dumped household waste at the site.

The trash ranged from large bags and suitcases to bedding items like pillows and mattresses.

Some individuals were seen dumping five or six bags at once, stopping their vehicles in the middle of the street to dispose of the garbage with no apparent concern for passersby or the presence of the ‘No Dumping’ sign clearly posted at the site.

Despite regular cleaning efforts, the dumpsite reappears overnight, prompting widespread public discontent.

The smell forces many commuters to cover their noses while walking or driving past, while pedestrians must step off the sidewalk and into the street, raising concerns over traffic safety.

C.T., a 28-year-old resident, expressed his frustration with the situation.

“Every night, sanitation workers come to clean it up, but by the next morning, there are already new trash bags,” he said.

Nguyen Thi Doan Trang, chairwoman of the Go Vap Ward People's Committee, told Tuoi Tre that authorities would conduct inspections and investigate the matter further.
