A military team from central Vietnam’s Quang Tri Province announced on Friday that it had recovered the remains of four fallen soldiers from caves in Khammouane Province, Laos.
One set of remains was discovered in Nong Ping Village, Ta Long Commune, while the other three were found in Phon Kham Village, Mahaxay Commune.
The remains included numerous bones and teeth, along with military artifacts such as fragments of tarpaulins and hammocks, AK rifle cartridge casings, canned meat tins, bomb fragments, rubber sandals, and a penicillin vial.
The team subsequently transported the remains and accompanying artifacts to a secure location for preservation and ceremonial rites.
The discoveries mark further progress in Quang Tri's 500-day campaign to locate, recover, and identify wartime remains, with a target of bringing home 430 fallen soldiers.

In late September, the same team recovered the remains of two other fallen soldiers from separate caves in Tham Village, Na Xe Commune, Thakhek Town, Khammouane Province.
The remains included teeth, shinbones, finger bones, and other heavily deteriorated skeletal fragments.
Five pieces of military tarpaulin, bullet casings, grenade casings, and two batteries were also found at the sites.
