The accident occurred at around 1:00 pm on Saturday, when the speedboat AG-26751 carrying 36 people, including three crew members, a tour guide, and 32 Indian tourists, capsized off May Rut Ngoai Islet in Phu Quoc Special Zone.
After receiving reports that the speedboat had overturned, the Vietnam Coast Guard Region 4 Command promptly deployed forces and vessels to conduct search and rescue operations.

Of the surviving Indian tourists, 15 have been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment and have resumed sightseeing in Phu Quoc.
The two remaining tourists are being treated at Mat Troi Hospital (Sun Group International Hospital), where one has recovered while the other remains on a ventilator due to a pre-existing cardiovascular condition.
"We have covered their expenses and made arrangements for them to continue their trip. They were deeply moved by our efforts to help them," the official said.
The accident killed 15 Indian tourists.
Their bodies are being held at Cho Ray Hospital and several other hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City.
