Rescuers save foreign man attempting to jump off bridge in Da Nang

At around 11:45 pm on Friday, police in Da Nang received an emergency report about a male foreigner showing signs of attempting to jump off the Thuan Phuoc Bridge to commit suicide.

Immediately, the firefighting and rescue police dispatched a specialized vehicle and seven officers to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found a foreign man standing precariously on the edge of the bridge railing.

They continuously persuaded and encouraged him, but he did not cooperate.

As a result, two officers secured with safety belts and using specialized ropes climbed outside the bridge railing to approach the man.

Because the foreigner was large and very strong, restraining and moving him to a safe area was extremely difficult.

Only when sufficient personnel were present to provide support could the rescuers successfully restrain and bring the foreign national over the railing to safety.

The rescue operation ended at 12:10 am on Saturday.

The man said he was experiencing a psychological crisis due to relationship issues.
