The two main establishments penalized were Simsimi, located at 25 Chuong Duong Street in My An Ward, and Bui, located at 27-29-31 Chuong Duong Street.
Both beer joints were found to be generating noise levels exceeding technical standards by between 15 and 20 decibels, disturbing the peace in nearby neighborhoods.
Simsimi, owned by Le Thi Hoang Ni, was inspected on the night of May 9 by a team led by the city’s economic police in coordination with officials from the environmental protection division and the food safety management authority.
Inspectors reported violations including exceeding noise level regulations and littering on sidewalks and roadways.
Also, it was found to violate food safety regulations such as storing and displaying food on unsanitary equipment, food handlers not wearing proper protective gear, poor kitchen organization that risked cross-contamination between raw and cooked food, and failure to comply with food sample retention regulations.
As a result, Simsimi was fined a total of VND71.5 million (US$2,745).
Similarly, Top Beer, managed by Nguyen Thi Kim Yen and operating Bui, was also found guilty of similar infractions during the same inspection period.
The beer joint exceeded permitted noise levels and violated food safety and environmental hygiene regulations.
It was fined VND73.5 million ($2,822).
Local residents have repeatedly voiced concerns over the disruptive music and poor sanitary conditions at these venues.
