Road collapses along Tau Hu Canal in Ho Chi Minh City

The collapse occurred in Chanh Hung Ward, where part of the roadway, sidewalk, and canal-side barrier gave way, creating a sinkhole about 20 meters long and 10 meters wide, according to local officials.

Sand and debris were seen sliding into the canal beneath the damaged section, they said.

Police and municipal agencies cordoned off the area and began inspections.

No injuries or property damage were reported.

The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Drainage Company said the damaged section sits above a wastewater drainage line, and further assessments were under way.

Authorities said the cause of the collapse had not yet been determined.
