These scholarships are part of a long-standing educational cooperation agreement between the two countries.
The International Cooperation Department under Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training works closely with Russian partners to oversee the annual selection process.
Each scholarship covers full tuition, a monthly stipend, and on-campus accommodation.
The Vietnamese government also provides additional support, including round-trip airfare, visa and passport fees, health insurance, travel costs, and a monthly living allowance for students enrolled under bilateral education agreements.
Scholarships are available for a variety of academic tracks: four-year bachelor’s degrees, five-year engineering or specialist programs, two-year master’s programs, three-to-four-year doctoral studies, three-to-twelve-month specialized internships, 10-month Russian language internships, and two-year medical specialization internships.
Applicants must meet eligibility criteria set by the Russian government, including high school seniors, first-year university students, and individuals who already hold undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral degrees.
Preference is given to candidates who have previously studied in Russia, have Russian language training in Vietnam, or possess an international Russian language proficiency certificate.
Selected candidates may also qualify for Vietnam’s supplementary support if they meet certain conditions.
The application process includes submitting an application online at education-in-russia.com, and then registering on Vietnam’s scholarship site at tuyensinh.vied.vn.
In addition, the Vietnamese government may provide supplemental support for the following groups:
– First-year university students
– High school seniors who have won medals in international or regional Olympiads
– Students awarded national academic or science prizes
– Winners of the Russian Language Olympiad hosted by the Russian Center of Science and Culture
– Armed forces students and children of war martyrs
– Students nominated by provincial authorities who commit to returning to serve their locality, provided they have a minimum GPA of 7.0 (on a 10-point scale) in both high school and their first semester at university
