Notably, Russia was the only European country among Vietnam’s top ten international source markets during this period.
This surge was primarily attributed to the resumption of direct flights between Hanoi and Moscow, along with affordable travel packages, enhancing Vietnam's appeal as a beach destination for Russian tourists.
The VNAT also mentioned streamlined visa policies such as visa exemptions, e-visas, and electronic visa issuance, alongside promotional campaigns at international tourism fairs.
Tran Thi Bao Thu, representing Vietluxtour in Ho Chi Minh City, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the number of Russian tourists booking through her agent rose by 18 percent in the first half of 2025 versus the same period last year.
She noted that the reconnection of direct flights between Hanoi and Moscow in early May following a three-year pause has played a vital role in fueling this growth.
She added that Russian tourists’ strong preference for beach destinations makes coastal offerings particularly attractive.
Looking ahead to the latter half of 2025, Thu forecast further growth in Russian arrivals, driven by favorable weather, stunning beaches, and low-season service prices.
She also highlighted the influence of a strengthening Russian ruble.
Destinations like Lam Dong, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc are expected to be ideal for their winter holidays, Thu predicted.
Tourism experts in Ho Chi Minh City observe that most Russian visitors travel on all-inclusive packages with direct flights, enjoying seven- to 12-day stays filled with leisure and cultural experiences.
One expert added that Russian tourists are willing to pay for premium hotel and resort services and show particular interest in local cuisine, spa, entertainment, and souvenirs.
It is predicted that Vietnam may welcome approximately 430,000 Russian tourists in 2025—nearly double the number from the previous year.
