The company’s Vietnamese unit, Taihan Vina, will invest 75 billion won ($50.6 million) to build the facility next to its existing plant at the Long Thanh Industrial Complex in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.

Construction of the second plant began on Wednesday and operations are scheduled to start in 2027, the company said.

The facility will be capable of producing 400-kilovolt extra-high-voltage cables to meet growing demand in Vietnam and overseas markets, including Europe, the United States, and Oceania.

Taihan Vina already operates a cable factory in the same industrial complex, which produces high-, medium- and low-voltage power cables as well as overhead cables.

Kim Joon Seok, deputy chief executive of Taihan Cable, said the new plant would support Vietnam’s power grid development while strengthening the company’s position in the global energy infrastructure market.

Taihan Cable & Solution is South Korea’s second-largest cable maker and operates cable plants in South Korea as well as overseas facilities in South Africa, Kuwait, and Vietnam.

The firm has a cable accessories plant in Saudi Arabia.
