The illumination will run until January 9 at the landmark tower on 2 Ton Duc Thang Street in Saigon Ward, showcasing the two countries' national flags, signature emblems, iconic imagery, and messages of friendship.
The display welcomes the recent elevation of Vietnam-UK relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership while underscoring growing cooperation between the two port cities.
Jointly organized by the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and Sovico Group, one of Vietnam's major private conglomerates, the lighting program takes place daily from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am and will include the New Year's Eve countdown on the night of December 31.
The event reflects a new phase in bilateral cooperation following the October visit to the UK by Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam, during which the two sides announced the elevation of their relationship to the comprehensive strategic partnership.
The upgraded partnership underscores a shared commitment to deepen cooperation across areas such as trade and investment, defense and security, innovation, science and technology, green growth, climate change response, education and research, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
During the same visit, Ho Chi Minh City and Liverpool signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in healthcare, education and training, and science and technology, laying the groundwork for expanded collaboration between the two cities.
Cultural exchange activities between the two twinned cities are expected to take place in late January 2026.
The British Consulate General invites residents and visitors to enjoy the illuminated display at Saigon Marina IFC Tower throughout the program period.
