The pedestrian bridge, sponsored by Nutifood, had its main steel arch span installed on October 21, marking a major construction milestone.
The steel arch was fabricated and installed by Dai Dung Group, a Vietnamese company.
The bridge is approximately 720 meters long and 7-11 meters wide, with a navigational clearance of 80 meters in width and 10 meters in height.
It will connect the existing city center with the new Thu Thiem urban area.
Its 187-meter-long main steel arch has a distinctive design inspired by nipa palm leaves.

The investor and contractors are accelerating construction to complete the project and open it to the public before the 2027 Lunar New Year.
These days, workers and engineers are rushing to complete the remaining items.
Meanwhile, waterway traffic continued beneath the bridge, with container barges and large cargo vessels passing smoothly and safely.

The pedestrian bridge’s vertical clearance of 10 meters exceeds the maximum vertical clearance of 9.5 meters stipulated for bridges along certain sections of the Saigon River under inland waterway planning regulations.
Vertical clearance refers to the height available for vessels to pass beneath a bridge, measured from the designed navigational water level to the lowest point of the bridge structure.
The clearance must be assessed during the project planning, appraisal and approval process, based on relevant plans and with approval from the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration.

The pedestrian bridge, together with the Nha Rong-Khanh Hoi Cultural Park and Bach Dang Wharf public green space project, which began construction on July 1, 2026, will create a public space extending from the riverbanks to the river itself, connected with the city's heritage sites and historical development.
