HCMC - The southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau is expediting work on the 76.86-kilometer Provincial Road 994, a pivotal coastal route linking it to Binh Thuan Province.
The VND7-trillion project passes through five districts and cities in Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Designed for six to eight lanes and speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour, construction began in June 2023.
While completion is expected between May 2025 and the third quarter of 2026, some contractors are aiming to finish construction work ahead of schedule.
In Xuyen Moc District, a 5.64-kilometer section of the road is advancing rapidly. Divided into two packages, the component costs VND1.05 trillion.
Package 19, spanning 2.6 kilometers, began in September 2023 with a July 2025 deadline. Favorable weather has enabled contractors to achieve 70% completion, with a new target of April 30, 2025.
Another three-kilometer segment encircling Minh Dam Mountain, connecting Provincial Road 44A to Long Phu intersection, is 75% complete and expected to be finished by the end of this year, six months ahead of schedule.
Progress on the Cua Lap 2 Bridge is also ahead of plan, with 70% of the work completed. The bridge is set to be finished by March 2025, a month earlier than planned.
The upgraded Provincial Road 994 is expected to enhance connectivity between key economic facilities, including the Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port and Long Son Petrochemical Industrial Park, while improving access to Ba Ria-Vung Tau's coastal tourism destinations.
