HCMC – The government of Binh Dinh Province yesterday, March 31, broke ground on a road connecting An Nhon Town and the west of the Thi Nai Lagoon, which is aimed at promoting local trade and tourism.

The road will be nearly 9.4 kilometers long and 22 meters wide. It will have four lanes and allow vehicles to travel at a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour. It will start at an intersection between National Highway 1 and Le Hong Phong Street in An Nhon Town, and end at a coastal road on the western part of the Thi Nai Lagoon. The provincial Management Board of Traffic Projects will be the investor of the project. It is slated for completion after 30 months. Of the total investment of VND1.043 trillion, VND680 billion is financed by the central budget, and the rest is from the local budget, reported VnExpress news site. Nguyen Phi Long, chairman of the provincial government, said this is one of the most important and biggest projects that will contribute to increasing the province’s budget in the years to come. As for the Thi Nai saltwater lagoon, it is the largest of its kind in Binh Dinh. It covers over 5,000 hectares of land in Quy Nhon City, and the districts of Tuy Phuoc and Phu Cat. The lagoon has a rich and diverse ecosystem as well as many beautiful landscapes. A part of the lagoon was used to build Quy Nhon Port.
