HCMC - A vibrant fireworks display illuminated the HCMC skyline on the evening of April 19, marking the start of a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation.

Thousands of residents and tourists gathered along the Saigon River waterfront to witness the spectacle. The show, held at the riverside park, formed part of the city’s official commemorative program honoring the historic reunification of the north and south of Vietnam. From 9:30 p.m., fireworks burst into a variety of patterns above the city, reflecting off the river and drawing cheers and applause from the crowds. The 10-minute display added a festive atmosphere to the city center, with many attendees capturing the moment on their smartphones. In the lead-up to the spectacular fireworks show, the streets near the city center, including Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Hue and Ham Nghi, were packed with people. Many wore red T-shirts emblazoned with the yellow star of the national flag, waving flags and eagerly awaiting the celebration. The event drew large crowds and set a celebratory tone for the jubilant April 30 celebration. At 7:00 p.m., the city officially launched its arts program titled “Colors of the City named after Uncle Ho Chi Minh” in front of the HCMC People’s Committee headquarters. The opening ceremony featured a 3D mapping light show synchronized with a symphonic and choral performance.
