HCMC - A new exhibition, "The Heritage of Mother-of-Pearl Inlay Craft," by Emmie Mai Linh Massias and Marine Col, explores the Vietnamese art of mother-of-pearl inlay in interior design, blending ancient craftsmanship with modern industrial production.

The exhibition, currently on display at IDECAF (Institute of Cultural Exchange with France), 31 Thai Van Lung, District 1, HCMC, seeks to revive this craft by merging traditional techniques with modern production methods.

French-Vietnamese designer Emmie Mai Linh Massias and French artist Marine Col preserve heritage through material storytelling, local craftsmanship, and sustainability. The duo founded Amalgame Studio, a creative space dedicated to research, experimentation, and crafting objects and furniture rooted in cultural and material heritage.

The artists reinterpret a craft that was once influenced by French colonial rule while preserving its Vietnamese identity. Through contemporary techniques, the artists not only celebrate the sustainable beauty of traditional craftsmanship but also breathe new life into a fading art form. The exhibition runs daily until April 3 and is open to the public free of charge from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
