“I first began reading The Saigon Times during my earlier posting at the Consulate-General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, from 1994 to 1998. Those were exciting times, with Vietnam opening up under the Doi Moi reforms and many Japanese companies were establishing their presence in southern Vietnam. As an officer responsible for economic affairs at the Consulate-General in those days, I found the up-to-date information The Saigon Times provided on Vietnam’s economy truly invaluable — and I am sure the Japanese business community here shared that sentiment.

"The Saigon Times has been a trusted source of information for the French Consulate for many years. Its English edition enables expats like me to stay well informed about business, economic and social developments in Vietnam. It has also been one of the reliable sources we use for our daily news round-ups and updates, helping us keep track of what is happening both locally and nationally.

"For 35 years, The Saigon Times has been far more than a publication. It has been a trusted voice accompanying Vietnam through a remarkable period of economic and social transformation.
Since its establishment, The Saigon Times has informed, connected, and inspired generations of readers, businesses, policymakers, and international partners. Through periods of rapid change and growth, the publication has consistently provided thoughtful reporting, insightful analysis, and a valuable platform for dialogue and understanding. As the New Zealand Consul General in Vietnam, I have seen firsthand the important role The Saigon Times has played in supporting Vietnam’s international engagement and fostering connections with the global business community, including New Zealand organisations and enterprises operating in Vietnam. I was especially appreciative of the coverage and support The Saigon Times provided last year as New Zealand and Vietnam celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations. The conclusion of this 35-year chapter marks the end of an important era in Vietnam’s media landscape. Yet the legacy of The Saigon Times will endure through the professionalism, integrity, and dedication it has demonstrated over more than three decades. On behalf of the New Zealand Consulate General in HCMC, I extend sincere congratulations and gratitude to the editors, journalists, staff, contributors, and readers who have been part of this extraordinary journey. Xin cảm ơn và chúc các bạn mọi điều tốt đẹp nhất cho chặng đường phía trước. (Thank you and wishing you all the best for the journey ahead)" - Scott James, Consul General Of New Zealand In HCMC
