HCMC - The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project, which links the Mekong Delta provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre, is expected to be completed in August and put into operation by September 2, according to the project management board.

The project is over 87% complete, which is above expectations. The main bridge section is progressing even faster, running more than 6% ahead of plan, according to the Vietnam News Agency. As for the roadwork, construction is underway along the entire 14-kilometer route. The entire Ben Tre section, including the approach road to the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, is expected to be completed by June 30, 2025. Regarding the bridge structures along the route, four out of six have been completed, including Xoai Hot, My Tho, Tam Son, and Ba Lai bridges. The remaining two, namely Rach Mieu 2 main bridge and Song Ma bridge, are still under construction. Among them, the Song Ma bridge is scheduled for completion before June 2025. The main section of the bridge – Rach Mieu 2 cable-stayed bridge – was successfully connected on April 19, 2025. Construction crews are now working on finishing components such as railings, median strips, lighting systems, expansion joints, and the fire protection system. The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project, spanning 17.6 kilometers, connects Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces. It starts at Dong Tam intersection, where National Highway 1 meets Provincial Road 870, in Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang, and ends on National Highway 60, about 0.71 kilometer north of the Ham Luong Bridge abutment, in Ben Tre City, Ben Tre Province. With a total investment of over VND6.81 trillion, the project is fully funded by the state budget.
