HCMC – Traffic congestion on Cong Hoa Street eased during peak hours on May 15, the first day HCMC introduced a reversible lane system on the road leading to Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

According to the HCMC Department of Construction, the city will assess the pilot after about one month and make adjustments if necessary. If effective, the model could be expanded to other congested roads in the city. The department said the measure is intended to maximize existing road capacity instead of expanding infrastructure in the short term. Authorities previously applied a similar flexible lane arrangement on the Hoang Hoa Tham–Cong Hoa steel overpass during peak hours and have continued operating the system.
