HCMC – Storm Vamco, the 13th to threaten Vietnam this year, is moving toward the central region, with its eye 322km from the mainland of Danang City, by 8 a.m. on November 14.

At the time, the storm had the strongest wind at level 14, gusting at level 17, the local media reported. In the next three hours, Vamco is forecast to move westward at 20 kilometers per hour. Due to the impact of the storm, Ly Son Island off Quang Ngai Province experienced winds at level 7, gusting at level 8. By 4 p.m. on November 14, the storm may be centered some 190km east of Danang City and Thua Thien-Hue Province and some 300 kilometers east-southeast of Quang Tri Province, with a maximum wind speed of 135-150 kilometers per hour (level 13), gusting at level 15. In the next 12 to 24 hours, it is predicted to move west-northwest at 20 kilometers per hour and weaken. By 4 a.m. on November 15, the storm’s eye is forecast to be spotted in the coastal area of provinces from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, packing the strongest winds at level 10, gusting at level 13. In the following 24 to 48 hours, the storm will maintain its west-northwest direction at a speed of 15-20 kilometers per hour and make landfall in the provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Nam. It will later weaken into a tropical low. Today, November 14, the central provinces from Nghe An to Quang Nam will experience heavy rains, with rainfall ranging from 150 to 350 millimeters and strong winds.
