For much of the year, Ba Hoa is a neighborhood market. But in the days leading to Tet, it becomes something else: a living ledger of migration, memory and trade.

HCMC - Today is God of Wealth Day, the 10th day of the first lunar month, so vendors of grilled snakehead fish are busy preparing thousands of fish to meet the strong demand.

Nguyen Trung, the owner of a grilled fish vendor in the area, said he had mobilized more than 25 workers to handle the surge in demand
“Although the cost of fish, vegetables, and other ingredients is higher this year, we have kept our prices unchanged from previous years,” Trung said. Prices range from VND200,000 to VND220,000 per fish, including vegetables, rice noodles, and dipping sauce.
