Nhiu Co San Mountain, soaring to an altitude of 2,965 meters above sea level, has emerged as a captivating destination for adventurers drawn to its pristine beauty and untamed wilderness.
Nhiu Co San Mountain is nestled in Sang Ma Sao Commune, Bat Xat District, Lao Cai Province. It is a part of the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range, extending from Lai Chau to Bat Xat. Situated about 60 kilometers from Sapa City, it ranks eighth among the top ten highest mountains in Vietnam. To reach Nhiu Co San, travelers should go from Lao Cai or Sapa to Den Sang Junction. From there, local drivers can be hired to transport tourists to Nhiu Co San Village at the foot of the mountain. The mountain features steep slopes, slippery terrain, and rugged roads, posing a formidable challenge for novice climbers. Conquering Nhiu Co San Peak along the 19-kilometer route demands endurance and determination. The climbing route traverses a diverse terrain, encompassing streams, waterfalls, bamboo and virgin forests, evergreen grassy hills, and grazing grounds for goats. Along the way, travelers encounter a variety of flowers such as mua flowers (Melastoma), rose myrtle (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa), and azaleas, among others. The journey also offers opportunities to savor forest fruits like wild grapes and wild apples (Docynia indica). Nhiu Co San showcases distinct beauty in each season, with the landscape evolving from the foot of the mountain to its summit.

Upon reaching the peak, adventurers are treated to a breathtaking and poetic natural panorama shrouded in drifting white clouds. From this vantage point, they can also behold Bach Moc Luong Tu Mountain, Fansipan Peak, and neighboring countries. At the foot of the mountain, villages are nestled amidst golden terraced fields that stretch across the slopes. In winter, Nhiu Co San transforms into a crystalline forest, with trees and flowers cloaked in a delicate layer of ice, creating an incredibly unique and vibrant spectacle. Additionally, tourists can visit Ong Chua Waterfall, known for its majestic beauty, and a heart-shaped rock hole that stands out as a highlight along the journey to conquer Nhiu Co San Peak.
