HCMC – Aboitiz Foods plans to invest in low-emission energy projects, while Grab has committed to deeper involvement in smart urban infrastructure development in Vietnam.

The commitments were made during separate meetings between Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and leaders of major organizations and corporations on May 31, as part of the Vietnamese top leader’s state visit to the Philippines. To Lam had separate meetings with Masato Kanda, president of the Asian Development Bank (ADB); Saia Ma’u Piukala, World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for the Western Pacific; Tristan Aboitiz, president and chief executive officer of Aboitiz Foods; and Chin Yin Ong, chief organization capability officer of Grab. Discussions focused on mobilizing macro-financial resources, expanding access to advanced technologies, and establishing strategic partnerships to support Vietnam’s green energy transition, private-sector development, smart agriculture and digital economy. Specifically, the ADB pledged financial support to help Vietnam transform its growth model and promote private-sector development, while WHO committed technical assistance for healthcare digitalization and upgrades to grassroots healthcare networks. Meanwhile, Aboitiz Foods expressed interest in investing in low-emission energy projects and developing green food supply chains. Grab pledged to participate more deeply in smart urban infrastructure, multimodal transport connectivity, and pilot next-generation technologies in Vietnam, including autonomous vehicles and delivery robots.
