Recently, hundreds of white herons—birds that wade in shallow coastal, marine, and freshwater wetlands and mangroves—have been gathering on the mudflats of the Han River, a well-known symbol of the central coastal city of Danang.

Painting a peaceful portrait of nature in the city center, this rare sight, especially visible near the Nguyen Van Troi and Tran Thi Ly bridges crossing the river, has captivated both locals and passersby. According to biodiversity experts, this dense gathering indicates a safe environment free from hunting and rich in food sources. The presence of these migratory or native birds suggests a healthy ecosystem of mangroves and alluvial flats in the dynamic urban area of Danang. Local authorities are now actively promoting the protection of these flocks, banning any harmful interference.
