Self-taught Vietnamese man recognized as 1st Google Workspace expert in SE Asia

The Google for Developers site recently updated the profile of Vo Tu Duc, a programmer based in Ho Chi Minh City, as the first Google Workspace expert in Southeast Asia.

According to Google’s introduction, Vo Tu Duc serves as a consultant and programmer, specializing in designing and implementing complex and customized automation workflows. 

Additionally, he holds a position as a board member of DOWA, a non-profit association with over 300 members comprised of wood manufacturers and exporters. 

In his role, he directly establishes the process of automating workflows for businesses transitioning to a working environment on Google Workspace.

“It does not work for a business where some employees use one tool and others use a different tool,” Duc emphasized.

Duc stands as one of Vietnam’s eight Google Developer Experts (GDEs) specializing in different fields and the first Google Workspace GDE in Southeast Asia as per the U.S. tech giant’s Directory of Experts worldwide.

Before transitioning from an economics background to a tech career, he embraced technology early in his first job at a telecommunications equipment company 16 years ago. 

Throughout his diverse roles in product marketing, sales, and product development, Duc has engaged with global tech partners such as Qualcomm, Google, Amazon AWS, and Mediatek.

Self-taught through YouTube, online resources, and community engagement, Duc adopted a problem-solving approach, relying on Google’s official system, community pages, and expert advice. 

As an App Sheet partner since 2018, he released add-ons on the Google Workspace Marketplace, offering custom integrations and automation services to clients in the U.S., Canada, and beyond.

Google Workspace, with over 20 toolkits, presents a challenge in ensuring all employees grasp and apply its functions effectively. 

Duc, a GDE, masterfully breaks down complex technology topics into easily understandable concepts and generously supports the community by guiding fellow GDEs.

His AC2F and SocialSheet add-ons have garnered widespread adoption, benefitting over 250 international businesses, including Motorola Automation, Nature.com, BG Lawn System, oPX, and Tusk Automation.

Looking ahead, Duc plans to remain committed to community support, speak at tech events, and share articles on various platforms, showcasing his dedication to knowledge-sharing and fostering collaboration within the tech community.
