Septuagenarian killed by lightning strike while returning from rice field in north-central Vietnam

Local authorities in Loc Yen Commune, Huong Khe District confirmed that the fatal incident occurred at around 2:45 pm on Tuesday. 

The victim, identified as T.T.B., had taken a tarpaulin to family members working in the rice fields as rain accompanied by thunderstorms approached.

While returning home amid thunder and looming rain, B. was struck by lightning.

Nearby residents immediately reported the incident to local authorities.

Emergency responders and local health officials arrived quickly to provide first aid, but the woman had already succumbed to her injuries.

Her body was returned to her family for burial in accordance with local customs.
