An official from the Hanoi Transport Construction Joint Stock Company said on Monday morning that traffic in the area had returned to normalcy.
Initial investigations identified the cause as a leak in a clean water pipe.
The escaping water created strong jets that eroded the soil beneath the surface, leading to subsidence and the formation of a deep sinkhole.
In response, teams from local authorities, including the water supply company, were quickly mobilized to address the issue.
The damaged water pipe was repaired, and the roadbed was backfilled, compacted, and resurfaced with asphalt.

Tran Huu Bao, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Construction, stated that this type of underground infrastructure failure is an unusual and unfortunate incident that affects public safety and daily life.
He emphasized the need for infrastructure investors and management units to strengthen their supervision, improve quality control, and proactively anticipate risks to minimize such occurrences.
The incident happened around 9:00 pm on July 26, when a Honda SH motorbike was traveling in the direction of Nga Tu So Intersection.
As the vehicle approached the intersection with Ton That Tung Street, the road surface suddenly gave way, creating a sinkhole approximately one meter deep.
The front wheel of the motorbike fell into the hole, causing the rider to fall off.
Onlookers quickly gathered at the scene, drawn by the unusual event.
Local police from Kim Lien Ward responded promptly, dispatched officers, and ensured the situation was managed.
The motorbike rider was injured, but the injuries were not serious, according to police.
