S.Korean man dies after falling from 17th floor of hotel in Vietnam’s Lao Cai

A South Korean man died after falling from the 17th floor of the Sapaly Hotel in Lao Cai Province, northern Vietnam, with police determining that he went to the rooftop, walked to the railing, and jumped to the ground.

Lao Cai provincial police said on Sunday evening that the man was found dead in front of the hotel, near the Lao Cai International Border Gate.

At about 6:45 pm on Saturday, residents reported that a man had fallen from the hotel's 17th floor to his death.

The provincial Police Investigation Agency received the report at about 6:55 pm.

Local police and authorities conducted an examination of the scene and the victim's body and verified the circumstances of the incident in accordance with the law.

Police identified the victim as JOJUN, a South Korean national born in 1988.

JOJUN had rented room 1605 at the Sapaly Hotel from August 29, with his scheduled checkout date set for September 15.

At about 6:30 pm Saturday, he left room 1605 and went to the hotel's 17th floor, which serves as the rooftop.

He then went to the railing and jumped to the ground, resulting in his death, according to the police investigation.

The Lao Cai Police Investigation Agency is continuing to coordinate with the provincial People's Procuracy to handle the case in accordance with legal regulations.
