Over the past several days, forces under the ministry have remained on round-the-clock duty to maintain security and public order for the congress, which is being held at the National Convention Center until January 25.

The units involved include officers and soldiers from a police dog training center in Hanoi and Special Police Regiment No. 1 under the Mobile Police Command.

Given the sensitive nature of the mission, these forces have been deployed at multiple critical sites and placed on constant standby to respond swiftly to any potential threats.

Alongside these preventive efforts, a combat unit from Special Police Regiment No. 1 has been placed on full-time standby at the imperial citadel.

Officers, soldiers, and snipers have prepared all necessary equipment and are maintaining a high level of readiness while awaiting orders from their commanders.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Le Phu Tinh, deputy head of the regiment, said the unit was assigned by the Ministry of Public Security and the Mobile Police Command to help ensure absolute safety for the congress.

He said special police units are responsible for handling complex security situations, including counter-terrorism operations, arrests, and hostage rescue across various terrains and transport systems, as well as fire and explosion prevention, bomb disposal, and responses to chemical hazards.

Captain Nguyen Khac Tam, an officer from the regiment, said he is proud to take part in safeguarding the 14th Party Congress, adding that he and his colleagues fully understand the event’s significance and are committed to carrying out their duties with discipline and professionalism.

One of the regiment’s key responsibilities is deploying forces at strategic high points surrounding the congress venue.

Pursuant to the highest security requirements, special police teams are stationed around the clock to maintain tight control of the area.

From these vantage points, the entire venue is continuously monitored, allowing the early detection of potential risks and timely responses to any situation that could affect the safety and security of the congress.

Tam said the sniper and surveillance duties assigned to these teams require exceptional precision, composure, and a strong sense of responsibility.
