Most northern provinces and cities, except Dien Bien and Lai Chau, will continue to experience hot weather on Thursday, with highs of 35-37 degrees Celsius, and some areas exceeding 37 degrees Celsius.
Hanoi may see thunderstorms late on Thursday, though the chance is higher on Friday.
From Friday, hot weather in the north is predicted to become more localized, with highs of 35-36 degrees Celsius, and isolated areas above 36 degrees Celsius.
Showers and thunderstorms may dampen northern localities on Friday evening, and the heatwave will end on Saturday.
For central Vietnam, the region may remain hot on Thursday and Friday, particularly from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang, eastern Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa, with highs of 35-37 degrees Celsius and some areas above 37 degrees Celsius.
Hot weather conditions in the central region are expected to ease from Saturday.
Meanwhile, southern Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, will see elevated rainfall and thunderstorms from Thursday evening.
By Friday, showers and thunderstorms are likely across much of the country during late afternoon and evening hours.
On Wednesday, hot weather persisted in multiple northern provinces (except Lai Chau and Dien Bien) and in central provinces and cities from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang, eastern Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa.
At 1:00 pm, temperatures ranged from 35-37 degrees Celsius, with some stations recording above 37 degrees Celsius, such as That Khe in Lang Son Province, Lang in Hanoi, Sam Son in Thanh Hoa Province, Quang Ngai Province, and Phan Rang in Khanh Hoa Province.
These were not the highest temperatures recorded during the day, but the figures indicate that the heat center is gradually shifting toward central Vietnam, the national weather agency said.
