In recent days, Ho Chi Minh City and other southern provinces have experienced intense daytime heat, particularly around midday, with temperatures reaching as high as 37-38 degrees Celsius.
While some scattered showers have occurred during the late evening or early morning, weather officials said these are not indicators of seasonal transition but are instead caused by local atmospheric disturbances.
The Southern Regional Hydro-Meteorological Center said the rainy season is expected to begin around April 25 to 26, with more consistent evening rainfall forecast into early May.
Provinces including Ca Mau, Kien Giang, An Giang, and some parts of the southeastern region—excluding Ba Ria-Vung Tau—are expected to see early rainfall.
By mid-May, most southern localities are forecast to fully enter the rainy season.
However, forecasters noted that daytime heat will persist through late April, and the start of the season may vary by a few days depending on local conditions.
