Hanoi greenlights $67.7bn infrastructure push including sports city designed to qualify for hosting Olympics

Hanoi’s leadership on Saturday approved investment plans for an Olympic-standard sports city and a major riverfront boulevard, part of a combined VND1.78 quadrillion (US$67.7 billion) infrastructure program officials said would allow Vietnam’s capital to host major regional and international sporting events, including the Olympic Games.
