Steam train linking Hue, Da Nang expected to launch in October

On Thursday, Tran Huu Thuy Giang, vice-chairman of the Hue People's Committee, met with leaders of Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) to discuss developing a steam-powered tourist train on the Hue-Da Nang route.

The meeting also reviewed the performance of the Hue-Da Nang heritage train. 

Hue City and VNR agreed to continue developing new railway tourism products that capitalize on the scenery, heritage sites, and experiences along the route.

Of particular focus was a plan to operate a steam-powered train on the route, with a trial run expected in October.

The service is expected to offer tourists a new way to travel between the two cities, particularly along the scenic route through Hai Van Pass.

Officials are also considering a stop in the Hai Van Pass area, allowing passengers time to sightsee, enjoy the scenery, and take photos. 

The stop is expected to add to the appeal of the railway tourism experience.

Building on the heritage train's results, Hue and VNR plan to expand railway tourism products linked to heritage, scenery, resorts, medical tourism, and wellness, diversifying tourism offerings and improving connections between tourism services in Hue.
