Support for English educators as schools navigate rapid change in Vietnam

As Vietnam is about to celebrate Teachers’ Day on November 20, English-language education provider DOL English is using the occasion to highlight both the pressure facing today’s teachers and the company’s efforts to support them in an era of rapid technological change.

The Vietnamese always honor the lasting role of teachers yet teaching has become increasingly challenging as artificial intelligence reshapes classrooms and English proficiency becomes a national priority.

The government has recently approved a plan to make English a second language in schools from 2025 to 2035, with a vision to 2045.

The Ministry of Education and Training estimates Vietnam will need to train at least 220,000 teachers capable of teaching in English by 2030, spanning preschool through university.

Many teachers, especially in rural and remote areas, struggle with limited time, resources, and access to English-learning tools.

DOL English says it has designed its online learning ecosystem with those constraints in mind.

The company's AI-powered platform provides personalized learning paths and includes tools to help users correct English pronunciation, a common hurdle for teachers in mountainous and hard-to-reach regions.

Pronunciation training is particularly important for early-grade teachers because early mistakes can become difficult to undo.

DOL English has also digitized its signature Linearthinking methodology, which favors logical structuring over rote memorization.

According to the company, this gives teachers a clearer framework for designing lessons and guiding students to think in English rather than simply repeat it.

For years, DOL English's team, made up largely of alumni from the High School for the Gifted at Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City, has promoted the idea that educational opportunity should extend beyond air-conditioned classrooms.

Many of the company's top scorers, including teachers with IELTS 9.0, have traveled to hundreds of schools to introduce Linearthinking.

Departments of Education and Training in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have endorsed training programs built around the method.

DOL English has also been a long-time sponsor of the Ministry of Education and Training's annual awards ceremony honoring Vietnamese students who win international Olympiads and science competitions.

The company notes that all its staff and teachers are Vietnamese, reflecting what it calls a firm belief in local talent.

In October 2025, as storms and floods struck parts of central Vietnam and Thai Nguyen Province, DOL English mobilized teachers and students to donate more than VND350 million (US$13,308).

The company described the contribution as modest but said it hoped the effort taught students meaningful lessons about empathy and solidarity.

While the country debates AI and digital transformation, many schools still lack basic needs such as footwear for students, a proper chalkboard, or a sturdy classroom wall, the company said.

Throughout 2025, several new schools for teachers and primary students in remote mountainous areas have been built with contributions from DOL English's community.

The company says it plans to continue supporting more such projects in the coming years.
