A screen grab shows the Group B standings at the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup, confirming Thailand and Vietnam have both qualified for the quarterfinals.
Earlier on Thursday, Vietnam had done their part by beating Lebanon 2-0, giving coach Diego Giustozzi’s side six points from two matches and leaving their qualification dependent only on Thailand avoiding a defeat against Kuwait.
Thailand went further than required, overpowering Kuwait despite early resistance.
Kuwait defended tightly and kept the game balanced for the first 15 minutes before Thailand’s attacking quality told.

The breakthrough came in the 16th minute when Muhammad Osamanmusa, the standout player of the match, combined with Therdsak Charoenpong and finished with an audacious back-heel to open the scoring.
Two minutes later, Osamanmusa struck again, converting a pass from Ronnachai Jungwongsuk to give Thailand a commanding half-time lead.
Kuwait’s problems deepened after the break as Thailand continued to dominate, adding four more goals.
Kuwait managed only a consolation strike as Thailand completed a comprehensive 6-1 victory.

The result confirmed both Thailand and Vietnam as quarterfinalists with a perfect six points each from two games, while Kuwait and Lebanon were eliminated in the group stage.
Thailand currently top Group B on goal difference, with a +7 margin compared with Vietnam’s +3.
The two Southeast Asian rivals will meet on Saturday to decide the group winners.
The 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup is being held in Indonesia from January 27 to February 7, featuring 16 teams from across the continent.
