On October 19, authorities received reports on social media about a trucker who repeatedly honked his horn to urge a car ahead to give way and had additional lights installed on the front of his vehicle, while traveling along Mai Chi Tho Avenue near the To Huu intersection in An Khanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

After verifying the reports, the Cat Lai traffic police team under the municipal Traffic Police Department identified the driver as H.K.Q., 38, a resident of Quang Ngai Province in north-central Vietnam.

During a meeting with police, the driver admitted to the violations.

Authorities issued an administrative violation record against him for two offenses: repeatedly honking the horn and installing additional lights on the front of the vehicle in violation of regulations.

The total fine for the two offenses was VND2.4 million (US$93).

Authorities required drivers to strictly comply with regulations on horn use and vehicle lighting, and not to install unauthorized equipment that could compromise safety and affect other road users.
