The donation was delivered by Nguyen Duc Binh, deputy chief of Tuoi Tre’s Hanoi representative office, to Myanmar chargé d'affaires Soe Ko Ko, who expressed his deep gratitude for the generous support from Tuoi Tre readers.
He said that Myanmar had received international assistance, including from Vietnam, following the tragedy.
He highlighted Vietnam’s swift aid—search and rescue teams from the Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of National Defense, as well as essential supplies—as a meaningful demonstration of ASEAN solidarity.
Soe Ko Ko added that the donation would be transferred to Myanmar’s National Disaster Management Committee to assist those affected by the disaster.

Speaking at the donation handover ceremony, Binh emphasized that the donation reflected the voluntary compassion of Vietnamese readers moved by Tuoi Tre’s coverage of the disaster.
"Though the amount may not be large, it carries the heartfelt sympathy and solidarity of the Vietnamese people, wishing Myanmar a speedy recovery," the Tuoi Tre journalist said.
Soe Ko Ko was particularly moved by the fact that many Tuoi Tre readers had proactively contacted the newspaper to contribute, calling it a deeply meaningful gesture that strengthens ties between the peoples of Vietnam and Myanmar.
He expressed confidence that such acts of kindness would further enhance bilateral friendship.
To acknowledge the donation, the Myanmar Embassy issued an official certificate of receipt, stating: “The Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Hanoi sincerely acknowledges and appreciates the donation of VND845,591,922 from Tuoi Tre readers for people affected by the devastating earthquake on March 28, 2025.”

Early last month, Da Nang City in central Vietnam donated $10,000 to aid Myanmar in recovering from the March 28 devastating earthquake at the ‘Meet ASEAN in Da Nang 2025’ event held on April 9.
In addition, the Da Nang Tourism Association contributed VND75 million ($2,900) raised from the city’s tourism community to support victims in Myanmar’s disaster-struck areas.
The massive magnitude-7.7 quake has killed more than 3,700 people, flattened communities as well as took a heavy toll on infrastructure in Myanmar.
One month after the quake hit, nearly 200,000 people remain displaced and living outdoors, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
