No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred at 2:23 pm local time when the right wingtip of a Boeing 787 struck the vertical stabilizer of an Airbus A321.
Both aircraft were taxiing for departure at the time of the collision.
The Airbus A321, operating flight VN1804 from Hanoi to northwestern Dien Bien Province, was stationary on rapid exit taxiway S3, waiting near runway 11R/29L.
The Boeing 787, operating flight VN7205 to Ho Chi Minh City, was taxiing along taxiway S1 toward the same runway when the collision occurred at the intersection of taxiways S and S3.
Weather conditions at the time were clear with good visibility.
Preliminary findings by the Northern Airports Authority suggest the Airbus A321 may have stopped short of the designated holding point, contributing to the collision.
The Boeing 787 sustained damage to its right wingtip, while the Airbus A321 was damaged at its vertical stabilizer.
Debris from both aircraft was recovered at the scene.

All passengers and baggage were returned safely to Terminal 1, and no injuries were reported.
Noi Bai International Airport officials coordinated with air traffic control and ground services to clear the scene and restore operations.
The incident caused no significant disruption to other flights, officials said.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said it has ordered an investigation team to determine the cause of the incident and assess safety procedures.
