After making landfall in Vietnam, typhoon Yagi, the third storm to hit Vietnam this year, has wreaked havoc in Hanoi, uprooting many trees, flooding several areas, and making the capital city a mess.
The storm, which has weakened into a tropical depression, struck the city on Saturday evening with winds of up to 102 kilometers per hour, equivalent to level 10, and gusts at level 12.
Strong winds swept through the city for a long period of time, causing many large trees to fall.
Along Nha Tho Street on which the St. Joseph's Cathedral is located, three century-old trees tumbled across the street.
The storm also brought down numerous trees along Phan Dinh Phung Street in Ba Dinh District and Thuy Khue Street in Tay Ho District.
Similarly, large numbers of trees were uprooted on Pham Ngoc Thach Street in Dong Da District and in Van Quan Ward, Ha Dong District.
