In a press release, Vietjet confirmed that it is assisting affected passengers and offering compensation according to regulations.

As part of its support at the airport, Vietjet announced that passengers on delayed domestic flights will receive a VND500,000 ($19) e-voucher each, while those on international flights will receive a VND1 million ($38) e-voucher each.

These e-vouchers, equivalent to cash value, apply to passengers whose flights were delayed by two hours or more on Sunday and Monday.

On those two days, several flights to and from Tan Son Nhat International Airport had to be rescheduled, the carrier said.

The disruption occurred during a peak travel period and coincided with the handover of ground services from Saigon Ground Services (SAGS) to Vietjet at midnight on Sunday as the two sides officially ended their partnership.

The transition took place at the same time as when the new Terminal 3 began operations, resulting in congestion both inside and outside the terminal.

The airline noted that during the Reunification Day holiday season, the frequency of flights significantly increased, leading to the congestion of ground support equipment at the apron.

Additionally, the adverse weather conditions in the Noi Bai International Airport area in Hanoi contributed to further disruptions.

Vietjet stated that it received timely coordination from the Southern Airports Authority, Tan Son Nhat International Airport, SAGS, Southern Airports Services Joint Stock Company, and Saigon Cargo Service Corporation.

The airline has also reported the situation to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

The no-frills airline reported that operations at Tan Son Nhat International Airport have been stabilizing and the carrier is ready to serve passengers during the upcoming holiday.

Over the past few days, numerous flights operated by various airlines have faced unexpected delays and cancelations at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Some delays lasted from three to 10 hours, with several flights eventually being canceled after multiple schedule changes.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has formed an inspection team to investigate the disruptions.

Meanwhile, airlines, along with other relevant parties, are working on solutions.
