Vietnam Airlines has adjusted flight paths following Pakistan’s temporary closure of its airspace.
On Wednesday, several flights to and from major European cities such as Frankfurt, Paris, and London were rerouted to avoid Pakistani airspace.
Affected flights included VN36 and VN37 between Hanoi and Frankfurt; VN30 and VN31 between Ho Chi Minh City and Frankfurt; VN10 and VN11 between Ho Chi Minh City and Paris; VN18 and VN19 between Hanoi and Paris; and VN50 from London to Ho Chi Minh City.
Budget carrier Vietjet has not launched any direct flights to Europe. However, the airline has announced plans to expand its network to the European market by the end of 2025.
A representative from Vietnam Airlines said that while rerouting may result in longer flight times and increased operational costs, the decision is necessary under the current circumstances to ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and the flights overall.
The airline also confirmed that it will continue to monitor developments in the region closely and provide timely updates to passengers if there are any changes affecting flight routes.
In Asia, several airlines have announced flight cancellations and route adjustments for services to and from Europe due to the outbreak of conflict between India and Pakistan on Wednesday.
Taiwan's EVA Air announced that for safety reasons, it will adjust its Europe-bound and inbound flights.
China Airlines stated that its flights to and from London, Frankfurt, and Rome are affected, with some being canceled and others making technical stops in Bangkok and Prague for refueling and crew changes, as well as taking longer routes.
